Case Study 2
Governor Sonny Perdue, Georgia
Georgia’s Center of Innovation for Manufacturing Excellence at Lanier Technical College
Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue announced the opening of the Center of Innovation for Manufacturing Excellence at Lanier Technical College in Gainesville on February 3rd, 2006. The manufacturing center is the newest of six innovation centers created in the state of Georgia.
For Georgia to become a state of innovation, we must make innovation our competitive advantage in every sector of the economy," said Perdue. "The Center of Innovation For
Manufacturing Excellence represents the state's commitment to provide research and training in advanced manufacturing technologies."
The inspiration for this center was the tech school director's involvement in Synchronist interviews. He thought he saw a need. When he looked at Georgia's statewide interview date, his hunch was confirmed. He packaged his proposal citing the Synchronist findings, secured state funding and was awarded Innovation Center status. Win, Win, Win.
