The Baton Rouge Area Chamber
The Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) is a nine-parish regional economic development organization that services the Greater Baton Rouge Capital Region.
Retention & Expansion visitation program was established from scratch beginning July of 2006 and has incorporated the e-Synchronist Business Information System. The program uses the continuous model focusing on a limited number of businesses annually to uncover and address immediate problems. Information and data obtained through this model is used to address systemic issues and contribute to long-range strategic planning to maximize returns on investment. Ultimately, the program drives one-on-one services to companies to resolve issues impacting the region.
To date, the program has been engaged in approximately 100 site visits to regional firms. The vast majority of these visits have been with industrial or consumer goods producers in the region. In addition, these visits have touched the major employers in the region, accounting for approximately 33,000 management and production employees which correspond to approximately 48% of the region’s total employment in mining, construction, and manufacturing sectors. The program has also identified approximately $644 MM in planned capital investment for the region.
