Comox Valley
Meeting one-on-one with local businesses, the Comox Valley Economic Development Society Business Visitation Program allows the society to learn about the participating business operation, explore issues related to its business, and target areas for potential expansion.
The CVEDS Business Visitation Program concentrates on employers in eight industries. The goal of the program is to encourage continued operation and expansion of local businesses. It is also responsible for a community growth strategy to help reduce business costs, improve competitiveness, enhance infrastructure and develop viable local and export markets.
The CVEDS Business Visitation Program identifies emerging community and industry trends. The labor market was identified early as an issue requiring attention. The CVEDS has entered into an agreement with Service Canada to develop specific tools to help local businesses hire, attract, and retain employees.
The CVEDS runs a business resource center (One-Stop Service Centre) for business startup and expansion activities, maintaining a collection of community statistical data, providing various workshops for skills and capacity development of local businesses, as well as a business visitation program to identify and address local business needs.
