KCP&L is an investor-owned electric utility serving more
than 800,000 customers in 47 western Missouri and eastern
Kansas counties. KCP&L’s Economic Development Team
assists local partner and site selection needs.
Because we believe e-Synchronist is one of the most
effective business expansion and retention tools in the
marketplace for economic development organizations, KCP&L
has offered free access to the Synchronist suite of products
to communities in our service territory since 2002.
Local partners may also purchase a sublicense providing
unlimited capabilities for an annual fee.
Since 2006, KCP&L has co-chaired the Business Retention
Council, a multi-county initiative composed of local
economic and work force development professionals that focus
on “best practices” in the area of business retention and
expansion. Since its inception, over 550 local
companies have participated in Synchronist-based on-site
visits. Through Synchronist’s x-tool, the data provides a
metro-wide view of challenges and opportunities for our
existing businesses.
